Male Sila Shepherd puppy
Born on June 26, 2026, Pepe is the largest male of the litter, the son of Gricia and Cesare. His name follows the family's culinary naming tradition: just as his mother’s name evokes the famous *pasta alla gricia*, "Pepe" (pepper) represents that essential ingredient.
Pepe entered the world in the most authentic way possible: outdoors, inside the den dug by his mother, in keeping with the ancient tradition of livestock guardian dogs. This natural birth speaks to Gricia’s strong maternal instinct and the breeding philosophy that defines our work—one that fully respects the breed's natural behaviors.
From his very first days, he has stood out for his black-and-tan coat and a particularly solid, harmonious build that already hints at excellent developmental potential.
In terms of temperament—though it is still too early for definitive assessments—Pepe displays a balanced, calm, and open nature. He is a curious puppy, serene when encountering new things and eager to interact; these traits provide an excellent foundation for his growth into a future *Pastore della Sila*.
Like all puppies from our kennel, he will grow up within the pack and in close contact with livestock, following a socialization and development path that nurtures the breed's innate aptitudes.

Assessments
At this age, it is still too early to make definitive judgments regarding conformation. However, Pepe possesses a highly valuable genetic background, being the offspring of two outstanding dogs, Gricia and Cesare. From birth, he stood out as the largest puppy in the litter, and during his first few weeks of life, he has shown the most significant development, maintaining steady growth and an already notably robust build.
